Did you know that around 80% of the information we perceive comes through our sense of sight? Looking after our eyes and having regular eye examinations can help detect conditions early, reducing the risk of permanent vision loss from diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma.
During our recent medical outreaches, cataracts and glaucoma were two of the five most common health conditions we identified in both adults and children. Many people had been suffering in silence or relying on unproven traditional remedies that, in some cases, worsened their condition and resulted in preventable blindness.
We also identified more than 10 children who attended the clinic with parents experiencing significant vision loss after delaying medical treatment in favour of alternative remedies. For many families, this was not simply a matter of choice but a consequence of poverty and limited access to affordable healthcare.
To help address these needs, our clinic provided essential treatments, including eye drops, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, yeast tablets, and more than 600 pairs of reading glasses to people who otherwise may not have been able to access them.
When was the last time you had your eyes checked? A simple eye examination could protect your sight or that of someone you love.
Together, we can help bring life-changing eye care to communities where access to healthcare is limited. Your support enables us to provide eye screenings, essential treatments, and reading glasses to those who need them most. Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or share our mission, your support helps us reach more families with life-changing healthcare.
